A simple rice pilaf is a great dish alone or as a compliment to any number of dishes. Here is an excellent recipe to make rice pilaf.

The secret to this excellent dish is butter … real butter!

Simple Rice Pilaf Recipe

You will need:

  • Medium pot with lid
  • 1C long grain rice
  • 1/2 C Orzo or Vermicelli (broken in tiny pieces)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1 1/2 C hot water

Directions:

Wash rice and let stand in water for about 10 minutes .

Melt butter over low heat and brown the Orzo in it. Stir!

Drain rice, add to Orzo along with the salt. Stir for about 3-4 minutes, then add your HOT water. Put lid on pot and bring to a fast boil, then immediately reduce heat to simmer. After about 20 minutes you have some of the best tasting Pilaf in town !  It’s a great side dish and quite versatile when adding other food to it, like the green beans and lamb.
