Chili in the crockpot is a perfect family meal or the perfect food for a Super Bowl get together with friends and family! Remember, making chili is an art and not a science so if you need a wee bit more meat and less beans, indulge!
Not only is chili in the crockpot easy to make and inexpensive, but you can cook it the day before the big game and sit back and have fun the day of the party by simply reheating. Besides, everyone knows chili is always better the next day!
CrockPot Cooking: Super Bowl Chili
2 lb ground chuck, browned and drained
1 15 oz can kidney beans
1 15 oz can mixed beans
1 15 oz can diced tomatoes and chilies – this is where you can control the ‘heat’
1 14 oz can tomato sauce
6 oz chili sauce
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1 shake garlic powder
1 onion diced
1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
4 tsp. Chili powder
½ tsp. dry mustard
salt to taste. (The onion soup mix provides most of the salt.)
Mix together all the ingredients and cook in crockpot on low for 7 to 8 hours. It really is that easy!
Serves a whole bunch of people. Oh! And don’t forget the grated cheese, sour cream and chopped onions for toppings and sweet cornbread or tortilla chips!
