Cabbage is one of those veggies you either love in most forms, or absolutely hate with a passion . My
family happens to really enjoy it, and we are always experimenting with cabbage recipe’s.
It doesn’t matter if the cabbage is in slaw, stuffed, fried or boiled. The baked cabbage recipe below
has long been a family favorite, and goes well with almost any main dish.
Give it a try the next time you’re in the mood to slice, dice, boil and bake! It really is easier than it looks.

You will need:

Large pot ( big enough to hold cabbage
Small saucepan
9 x 13 baking dish

1 medium large head cabbage, washed and chopped
3 Tbs.butter
4 Tbs flour
1 green pepper, washed, seeded and diced
1 large onion
3-4 stalks celery, washed and chopped
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Small jar pimento’s
1- 1/2 cups bread crumbs
dash garlic salt
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Place pimento’s, cabbage, celery, green pepper and onion in
large pot.
Cover with water, add salt and bring to boil. Reduce heat and
simmer until cabbage is tender.

Drain, then pour mixture into casserole dish. Sprinkly with a dash
of garlic salt and set aside.

Melt butter in small saucepan and stir in flour and milk.
Cook on low until it begins to thicken; add cheese.

Stir well, then pour cheese mix over cabbage mixture. Sprinkle
liberally with bread crumbs.

Bake for 45 minutes or until casserole is bubbly and light brown.
Remove from oven and let sit a few minutes before serving.

Serve as a side dish with any main meal and enjoy!
