If things are a bit hectic in your household and you’re still looking for easy Christmas cookie recipe’s, try this simple sugar cookie recipe. Add sprinkles to the top while still warm, or frost with your favorite frosting once cooled. You can even crush a few candy canes and sprinkle over them while still hot. They’re wonderful as they are though, and great fun to make with the kids…just use your imagination and enjoy the time you spend with them!

You will need :

Cookie sheet
Large bowl
Medium bowl
Wooden spoon
Whisk

2-3/4 cups flour ( all purpose )
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup softened butter
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla ( substitute almond )

Directions

Preheat oven to 375* F
Do NOT grease cookie sheet

Mix flour, soda and baking powder together in bowl and set aside.
Cream egg, sugar and butter together in large bowl. Whisk in egg and vanilla.
Slowly add flour mix into butter mix, blending as you add.

When batter is smooth ( free of lumps )use a teaspoon to drop dough onto cookie sheet.
Bake for 8-11 minutes. Cookies should be a golden brown. Remove from oven and cool for at least 2-3 minutes before removing with a spatula. Cool completely if you are frosting them.
