When it comes to Holidays, we tend to go all out when it comes to serving food. One thing that is often overlooked until the last minute is flavored butters, and we catch ourselves paying a King’s ransom for an ounce or 2. Instead of doing that this year, try making some yourself…the 3 flavored butters below are delicious and very easy to prepare…plus they’re ever so cost effective!
You will need:
Assortment of bowls
Airtight storage containers
1 cup butter
Bring butter to room temp.
Finely grate zest of orange and lime. Measure ¾ tsp orange peel. Set aside
Juice the orange. Remove seeds. Measure 2 Tbs. Set aside.
Repeat for the lime, measuring out ¼ tsp ad set aside.
Combine butter, orange zest, orange juice and lime zest in a medium bowl with electric mixer. Beat at medium speed until well blended.
Roll in waxed paper. Store in refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
Use recipe above but omit orange zest, orange juice and lime zest. Substitute ¼ cup honey.
Omit orange zest, orange juice and lime zest. Substitute 2/3 cup strawberry preserves.
