In Italian, “crostini” means little toasts…around here it means hurry up and grab one before Mom eats them all. The recipe below is one of our favorite appetizers and so easy to make! Try it soon…you might want to make a variety of crostini to have on hand during your favorite game!

You will need :

Large baking /cookie sheet
Good bread knife
pastry brush

1 Baguette
2 Tbs extra virgin olive oil
1/2# Romano cheese, grated or sliced paper thin
4 Tbs honey
Zest of one large orange
pepper ( I use ground peppercorns )

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400*

Cut baguette into 1/4 ” slices
Brush one side of bread with olive oil. Place on a baking sheet and bake until crispy, usually 5-7 minutes. Remove from oven, turn off heat.

Carefully place cheese on each piece of bread.
Drizzle bits of honey over the cheese. Top with orange zest and sprinkle lightly with pepper. Return to oven for about 2 minutes. Remove, place on serving platter and enjoy!
