While *dump cake* doesn’t sound appealing, there is no better name for it. Invented and varied by cooks everywhere caught in a time crunch, it’s saved the day for many a mom in need of a quick dessert. This recipe is very kid friendly and clean-up is a breeze. Give it try the next time you find yourself in a rush to produce a delicious treat! Remember, you can vary the ingredients to suit yourself!

You will need:

9 x 13 baking pan
can opener
kid or 2 ( optional )

1 box yellow cake mix ( any brand )
1/2 cup pecans ( substitute walnuts )
1 can cherry pie filling
1/2 tsp almond extract ( optional )
1 can crushed pineapple ( do not drain )
1 stick of butter ( substitute margarine )


Preheat oven to 350*
Mix cherry pie filling, pineapple, pecans and almond extract in baking pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly on top. Slice butter into small pieces and place an inch or so apart on top of cake mix. That’s it!
Bake for 50-60 minutes or until cake is a golden brown. Serve warm as is, or serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
