If you’re not fond of fruit flavored glazes, perhaps the maple glaze below will work for your cake or other pastry. It’s a simple but delicious addition to any angel food or pound cake and I have used it as a glaze on plain oatmeal cookies. Give it a try next time you’re pressed for time and need a quick and sweet dessert topping!

You will need:

small saucepan
whisk
sifter

1/2 Cup maple syrup ( I use Log Cabin ) Do not use imitation syrup.
1 1/2 Tbs butter
1 Tbs whole milk
1 Cup powdered sugar

Directions:

Mix syrup, butter and milk in saucepan and bring to a boil on simmer. Boil for 2-3 minutes stirring or whisking constantly( don’t forget the sides of the pan! )
Remove syrup mix from heat ; sift sugar and add slowly to mix, stirring or whisking. Use immediately on cake, pie or other pastry. Enjoy!
