Need a quick chocolate snack to appease the chocolate monster? The recipe below is an easy, child friendly *brownie cake*. Start to finish including cleanup is less than an hour!

You will need:

1 quart baking dish
large bowl
wooden or plastic spoon

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa power
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon cooking oil
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans ( substitute walnuts)

Preheat oven to 350*.

Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, and baking powder in large bowl. Add milk, oil, and vanilla, and mix by hand until smooth. Stir in pecans. Pour batter into an ungreased 1-quart casserole dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes…keep checking center. Ovens vary and it’s often hard to say an exact time when making from scratch, but trial and error do prove worthwhile!
Serve warm or cold…it’s great at any temerature…and enjoy!

If you have a left over frosting (chocolate or cream cheese) add that to the top when cooled :-)
