Another one of our favorite dips/ spreads in this household is the decadent BLT dip, without the lettuce though. It’s wonderful year ’round, unless you live where finding a fresh tomato in the dead of winter is impossible. Like us. While sun-dried tomatoes can be substituted, it doesn’t quite taste the same. Give this old tried and true stand-by dip a try while you can still find those wonderful summer tomatoes!
You will need:
Large heavy skillet
medium mixing bowl
1 large tomato
1/2 pound bacon
1/2/Cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise ( we use Hellmann’s )
1/2 teaspoon paprika
3/4 cup shredded cheese ( your favorite, optional )
1 Tbsp chopped green onion (optional)
Wash and finely dice the tomato
Fry bacon in skillet on medium high until well done/crispy. Remove, drain off grease ( paper towels work great ) and when cooled, crumble into very small pieces.
Mix sour cream., mayo, paprika in bowl until blended, Add bacon crumbles and tpmato, stor we… Refrigerate 4-6 hours before use.
Serve on your favorite snacker and enjoy!
Tip : This is great when spread on pita bread or rolled up in a soft taco. I usually add lettuce to both.
