Simple Sweet and Sour Sauce

Simple Sweet and Sour Sauce Recipe

You will need:

  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar (may substitute white, but it won’t be as flavorful)
  • 1 Tbsp Catsup
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce (may substitute Worcestershire)
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 4 tsp water
  • 4 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 Cup pineapple chunks (optional)

Mix the brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce and catsup together in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Mix cornstarch and water together and add to mixture, stirring to thicken. For a thicker sauce, add more cornstarch.

Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes. Serve hot or cold.

Tip: While white vinegar may be used, there is quite a taste difference. Always use rice vinegar when available. You won’t be disappointed.
