Butterscotch is one of my most favorite taste sensations and the brownie recipe below is so easy and fast that I make them in place of cookies quite often.
These brownies are delicious plain, or you can top with ice cream, chocolate or caramel syrup. When you’re craving something really sweet, give this old stand by recipe a try!
Easy Butterscotch Brownies
You will need:
Large mixing bowl
12 x 9 baking pan
mixer or wooden spoon
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 cup butter or margarine (softened)
2 cups butterscotch chips (divided)
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
2 eggs (large)
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350*. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Beat softened butter, sugar and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Use mixer on low or mix by hand. (Wooden spoon works best for me) Add eggs and continue mixing.
Slowly add flour mix and beat well. Add 1 1/3 cup of butterscotch chips and the nuts. Pour into ungreased 13×9-inch baking pan and smooth out with spatula. Add the remaiming 2/3 cup of chips to the top of the batter.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10-15 minutes before cutting. Enjoy!
