We love apple pie and all it’s variations around here. With refrigerated pie crusts so readily available, it hardly takes any time to put a homemade pie on the table these day and …. no one needs to know you had a little help in the pie crust department! Below is a recipe for apple-pecan pie with caramel sauce that is sure to please not only you, but your family and friends as well.
You will need:
- Large bowl
- 9 or 10 inch pie pan
- 2 ready made, refrigerated pie crusts
- 6 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tbsp. butter
- dash of cinnamon
- 1/3 cup caramel sauce/ice cream topping
- 3 tbsp. chopped pecans for topping
Line pie pan with one pie shell.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine apples, 1/3 cup pecans, sugar, flour and salt and butter. Stir gently by hand.
Spoon into pie pan, sprinkle cinnamon lightly over mix and top with second crust. Flute edges to seal. Use a fork to poke a few holes in top crust.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes; remove from oven, cool about 10 minutes and then top with caramel sauce and pecans.
Serve warm or at room temperature. Delicious … enjoy!
