Does anything really go better together then chocolate and bananas? This recipe is a moist and tasty sweet bread that you will just love. And pairing chocolate and bananas is one of the most reliable where baking is concerned.
Serve this with a cup of tea or coffee for a bread-like feeling; drizzle some chocolate syrup and whip cream on the top and it transforms into a decadent dessert. So now you have not one, but two wonderful reasons to put those 4-day old ripe aged and yellow-skinned bananas to good use!
Chocolate Banana Bread
1 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 c chocolate chips
1 stick butter (1/2 c) room temperature
1 c sugar
1 c mashed bananas (about 2 ripe)
2 TBSP lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Optional: fold in pecans, walnuts or even dried cranberries. yummy!
Preheat your oven to 350. Butter and flour (or cocoa) one large loaf pan.
Coat chocolate chips with 1 tbsp flour or cocoa powder, set aside. Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, set aside.
Beat butter until fluffy. Slowly add sugar. Beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Beat in bananas, lemon juice and vanilla extract. Beat in dry ingredients.
Add about 1/2 mixture to pan. Add chocolate chips. Add remaining batter. Use knife and swirl the batter and chips in the pan. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until toothpick entered comes out clean.
