Butter Cake Bars

Remember those buttery, gooey cookie bars from years ago? They have been rediscovered apparently! I saw some in the bakery a few days ago for the first time in years. This recipe makes 3 times as many at a fraction of the cost and they’re so easy to make. Try it the next time you crave a sweet, homemade treat.
This recipe is also child friendly but don’t let the kids lick the bowl ( raw eggs in batter ).

Maple Glaze

If you’re not fond of fruit flavored glazes, perhaps the maple glaze below will work for your cake or other pastry. It’s a simple but delicious addition to any angel food or pound cake and I have used it as a glaze on plain oatmeal cookies. Give it a try next time you’re pressed for time and need a quick and sweet dessert topping!

5 Minute No Bake Lazy Cake

I don’t know how, but we ran out of cookies today ( ok..I do know how but am not admitting it ) and I had promised the Grands a treat. Rather than run to the store I looked through the cupboards and found my daughter had all the ingredients to make this old emergency cake on such short notice. I haven’t made it in such a long time and it was fun having the little ones help….as a bonus, clean up is minimal. Give this quick and tasty treat a try on one of those days you don’t want to turn the oven on!

Lemon Mini Cakes

If the lemon is just a bit too tart for you, leave off the lemon juice in the glaze and just use milk. You can also use mini muffin pans for bite size cakes!

Margarita Cake

Here is a great Margarita cake recipe just in time for Cinco de Mayo! You can garnish this lovely cake with additional peel or slices of lime, lemon or orange, or if you prefer, a sprig of mint or parsley. A pretty cake seems to taste better!
